Plans
Plans define what you're selling: the price, billing cycle, and payment options.
Creating a Plan
Click New Plan and fill in the details:
Required Fields

Billing Intervals

Trial Periods
Give subscribers a free trial before their first payment.
Example:
- Plan: 10,000 sats/month
- Trial: 7 days
- Result: Subscriber gets 7 days free, then pays 10,000 sats
Use trials for higher-priced plans to reduce friction. For plans over 50,000 sats, a 7-day trial can significantly increase conversion.
Grace Periods
Extra time after a payment fails before marking as failed.
Example:
- Grace Period: 3 days
- Payment fails on March 1st
- Subscriber keeps access until March 4th
- If no payment by March 4th → status becomes "Payment Failed"
During grace period, the status shows "Past Due" but subscribers keep access. Use 3-7 days to reduce accidental churn from temporary wallet issues.
Payment Methods
Lightning (Default)
Always available. Subscribers scan a QR code or copy the invoice.
On-Chain Bitcoin
Requires additional setup:
- Install WatchOnly extension
- Add your wallet's xpub/zpub
- Install SatsPay extension
- Enable on-chain in plan settings
Subscribers see a unified BIP21 QR code that works with both Lightning and on-chain wallets.
NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect)
Enables true automatic recurring payments. Subscribers connect their NWC-compatible wallet (Alby, Buho, LNbits) once, and renewals happen automatically.
- Enable Allow NWC in plan settings
- Subscribers see "Subscribe with Autopay" option
- Renewals are charged automatically to their connected wallet
NWC is the only Bitcoin payment method that enables fully automatic renewals like Stripe and PayPal.
Card & PayPal
Server-level feature. Your LNbits admin must enable Stripe/PayPal in server settings.
Editing Plans
Click on a plan to edit it. Changes take effect immediately.
Changing the price only affects new subscriptions. Existing subscribers keep their original price until they cancel and re-subscribe.
Deleting Plans
When you delete a plan:
- All active subscriptions are cancelled
- Subscribers are notified
- Plan moves to Archive
- Subscriptions move to Archive
The confirmation dialog shows exactly how many subscriptions will be affected.
